Sept 14 – Dec 14 (13 weeks). No class the week of Nov 20-26. Working off some baby weight? Want to get some exercise in without worrying about child care? This is the class for you! Caregiver and child spend quality time listening to child-friendly music while working on strength training, across the floor moves, and yoga. Sept 13 — Dec 13 (13 weeks). No class the week of Nov 20-26. Tai Chi is a mind and body exercise characterized by slow, round, continuous movements that integrate awareness and breath support. Tai Chi promotes internal strength and energy through movements based on self-defense and traditional Chinese health principles. This class focuses on various health aspects including balance, circulation and stress relief. Instructor: Ms Diane Ryan

Tuesday, 8-9pm

Sept 12 — Dec 12 (13 weeks). No class the week of Nov 20-26. This is the perfect class for the adult who is interested to explore movement. Modern is a contemporary dance form with roots in ballet. Class will emphasize the use of the floor, a focus on breath, body awareness, and strengthening the body — especially the core. Comfortable clothing, bare feet. Instructor: Ms Kelly Lohrenz

Sept 11 — Dec 11 (13 weeks). No class the week of Nov 20-26. Learn the structure of ballet class and proper technique including posture, turn-out, flexibility, musicality, barre and centre work. All levels welcome! Comfortable clothing, pink ballet shoes. Instructor: Ms Sara Dyckman

FA17 Adult African

Saturday, 12:30-1:30pm

Sept 16 — Dec 16 (13 weeks). No class the week of Nov 20-26. Founded in 1972, Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago is the premier dance company of authentic and contemporary interpretations of ancient African and African-American dance, music and folklore. BAC is proud to be partnering with this highly acclaimed dance company. Muntu instructors will teach traditional and contemporary African dance forms accompanied by a master drummer. The dance instruction will consist of sequential sessions allowing students to develop techniques and applications of sills in this artistic discipline. African dance teaches strength, discipline, and agility while improving overall athleticism. Students will be immersed in the culture and traditions of various African dances; learning the names, significance, and regions the dances originate from.
