The BAC adult visual arts curriculum begins by introducing students to the basics of drawing and painting, ceramics, and digital arts, then adds new skills in subsequent classes as the students progress. Adult classes are open to students ages 15+, some 13+.

2nd annual Deck The Halls Winter Art Exhibition:  Sunday, December 3, 6-8 PM.  Free for all to attend!  Art submissions are due by November 18th.

FA17 Digital Photo I


Monday, 7pm-9pm

Sept 11 – Nov 13, (10 weeks). Learn to correctly use ALL the features and functions on your digital camera to get a great shot every time. “Point and Shoot” and DSLR cameras are both welcome. Friendly photo editing software will also be discussed. Bring camera, users’ manual and USB cord. Instructor: TBD

No class week of November 20-26. $10 materials fee included in class cost. Whether you are familiar with ceramics or a complete novice, come join in on the ceramic fun! You will be work on the potter’s wheel and use hand building techniques to create diverse works of art. Instructor:  Judi D’Andrea (for both sessions)

FA17 Watercolor Studio

Sept 13 – Dec 13, (13 weeks). No class week of November 20-26. From novice to advanced students, this class will provide a step-by-step approach to watercolor painting. The instructor will work individually with students providing demonstrations as needed. Instructor: Ewa Bloch

FA17 Phone Cameras


Wednesday, 7pm-9pm

Sept 13 – Sept 27, (3 weeks). Do you have a camera on your smartphone? Come to this class to learn all the features and extras your phone camera can do. With your phone always on you, the lightweight and accessibility allows you to capture images at a moment’s notice. Phone cameras can provide high quality images just like a “point and shoot” digital camera. Please bring your own smartphone to class. Instructor: TBD

FA17 Fused Glass

Section 1 Sept 14 – Oct 19, (6 weeks)
Section 2 Nov 2– Dec 14, (6 weeks)

No class week of November 20-26. $50 materials fee included in class cost. Learn to score, cut and arrange glass, while the kiln will do the rest with full, contour or tack fusing. Create window art, jewelry, bowls, platters or anything you can imagine. Instructor: Judi D’Andrea (for both sections)

FA17 The Mobile Production Studio

Ages 17+

Monday, 7-8:30pm

September 11 – October 9 (5 weeks). Everyone has a story to tell, but not everyone has figured out how to tell it. Students in this class will learn how to utilize the camera in your pocket to it’s full effect. Lenses, sound recording, and post-production will be covered in addition to learning how to craft professional quality images using your cell phone. Instructor: Jonathan Moeller

SU17 Shooting on Location


Saturday, 8-10am

June 24 (1 day class). Students will meet at the South Shore Cultural Center to spend a few hours shooting nature and beach imagery as well as some interiors of the cultural center. You’ll need your camera (with a charged battery!), a memory card with room to spare, and some comfortable shoes.  Students will be contacted after sign up for specific meeting locations.
