Summer Arts Camp
Campers ages 5-12 work with professional Teaching Artists in two-week sessions, five days per week from 9am-4pm. Campers are split into groups based on their age and experience Visual and Performing Arts hands-on in creative and outside-of-the box ways. Groups are kept intentionally small to guarantee personalized attention. Each session culminates with a showcase performance which is free to all friends and family. Session One: Art Attack!
June 11-22, 2018 – Visual Arts focus
Workshops in classes such as Drawing/Painting, Comic Book drawing, Print-making, Ceramics, 3-D Sculpture, and Recycled Sculpture. The session culminates with a professional gallery showing in the BAC’s Atrium gallery. *Field Trip to the Museum of Art offered in this session for additional fee.
Session Two: Weird Science!
June 25 – July 6, 2018 – S.T.E.M focus
All workshops focus on finding the place where art and performing arts meet with Science. Workshops in S.T.E.M Art, Dance, Music Theory and Composition, Culinary Experiment, Fashion Design, and Weird Science. This session culminates with a live Mad Scientist’s Laboratory performance in the Baffes Theatre. No classes on July 4th. Pricing is $360 for non-members and $324 for members.*Fieldtrip to the Museum of Science and Industry offered in this session for additional fee.
Session Three: Original Musical!
July 9-20, 2018 – Musical Theatre focus
All workshops including Acting, Dance for Musical Theatre, Improv, Singing, and Theatre Design focus on rehearsing a brand-new musical, written by Cap Director, Carly Bishop, and Teaching Artist, Terry Morrow, which will be performed on the final day of the session in the Baffes Theatre.
Session Four: Singer-Songwriter!
July 23-August 3, 2018 – Music and Dance focus
Workshops might include: Hip Hop Dance, Step Dance, Contemporary and/or Modern Dance, Singing, Composition and Theory, while campers experience the thrill of recording in a studio, beat-boxing, and performing their creations live on stage in the Baffes Theatre on the final day of camp. *Field Trip to the Shedd Aquarium offered with this session for additional fee.
Session Five: Vaudeville Off-Broadway!
August 6-17, 2018 – Theatre & Dance focus
Workshops include Flapper Dance, Clowning and Improvisation, Cabaret Songs, and Adventures in Art while campers explore the glitter and glitz of the world of Vaudeville! *Campers will attend a professional Children’s Theatre performance at the BAC.
Session Six: Lights, Camera, Action!
August 20-31, 2017 – Film focus
Workshops include Acting for the Camera, Claymation, Music Video, Story-boarding, Editing, and the making of the Summer Arts Camp motion picture, which will have its premiere on the final day of the session in the Baffes Theatre.
$60 non-members, $54 members
Parents in need of additional care time, may register their campers for Pre-Camp, where campers spend one-on-one time with SAC staff while working on small crafts, playing games, and helping set-up for the days’ activities.
After Care 4:00pm-6:00pm
$120 non-members, $108 members
Parents in need of additional care time, may register their campers for After Care, where campers spend one-on-one time with SAC staff while working on small crafts, playing games, and helping set-up for the days’ activities.
Multiple Child Discount Offered : 10% off each additional child. Children must be siblings. Proof may be required.
NEW! Tiered Scholarships
Based on the success of last year’s SAC Scholarship program, the Beverly Arts Center, with the hopes of making arts-enrichment programming available to as many families as possible is offering new Tiered Scholarships based on income. Applications will be available at the front desk as of January 1, 2018.
NEW! Junior Counselor positions
The Beverly Arts Center is pleased to offer Junior Counselor positions to students ages 13 and 14. Junior Counselors will attend Summer Arts Camp for half of the non-member price, and will act as Teaching Assistants to the professional Teaching Artists, assist in general maintenance of the camp and building, and will act as leaders for their assigned groups. Four to six Junior counselor positions will be available per session. Applications will be available at the front desk as of January 1, 2018.
