Carly Bishop holds a MFA in Acting from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign. A professional actor, director, and choreographer, Carly is the Outreach Manager and Director of Summer Arts Camp at the Beverly Arts Center. Combining her artistic studies with her additional graduate studies in the MS in Teaching program at National Louis University, Carly has developed professional development workshops for business professionals, home-schoolers, and certified teachers to assist them in adding the Arts into their daily curricula and agenda.


Arts-Integration Workshop: Using Art to Activate Your Classroom or Meeting

This workshop explores warm-up activities, “Do Nows,” games and explorations that incorporate core Art principles from Visual Arts to Theatre, Dance to Music into Common core lesson plans. Participants will experience demonstrations on how to incorporate Art into every day meetings, conferences, or daily lesson plans. Ensemble-building games, focus and concentration techniques, and games that raise creativity and productivity and develop strong classroom and behavior management techniques will be explored. S.T.E.M into S.T.E.A.M – How to Add Art to Science and Math Lessons

Saturday, October 7, 2017 10am-12pm

This workshop uses Visual Arts, Theatre, Dance, and Music lessons to spice up K-5 Science and Math curriculum. Filling the teacher’s tool belt with fun, hands-on, out-of-their-seats lesson plans that utilize core Art principles to illuminate scientific and mathematical concepts. Participants will move around and get a little messy, so dressy accordingly. Instructor:  Carly Bishop

TEEN MENTORSHIP

$301 ($256) per session

Monday through Friday, 10:00am-4:00pm

Our brand new Artist Mentorship program for teens is for students age 13-16 interested in an intensive arts experience. Teens will mentor professional artists in Music, Theatre, Dance, Film, and Visual Arts. Projects will be larger scale, followed by a professional showcase or gallery display on the final day of the session. Singer/Songwriter mentorship – July 24-August 4, 2017

Teens will work with a professional composer/songwriter to compose original songs, which will then be choreographed by a professional choreographer, and filmed with an acting coach and turned into a Music Video! Teens will also work with a professional artist to come up with their logo and album cover design. This session culminates in a showcase event in the Baffes Theatre.


Film mentorship – August 7-18, 2017

Teens will work with the BAC Film Coordinator to create various film-related projects ranging from stop motion animation, live action, and documentary. They will create original films both individually, and as a group, all the while collaborating on a documentary that will showcase their journey through film. This session ends with a film premiere event in the Baffes Theatre!


Music mentorship – August 21-September 1, 2017

Teens will work with professional Chicago musicians in drumming, body percussion, and instrument work while performing in a “Glee” style choir and working with a professional choreographer. Dive into the world of rhythm, tempo, staccato, and finesse! This session culminates with a showcase event in the Baffes Theatre!

Session Four: Weird Science! July 24 – August 4, 2017

Our most popular session, all lessons are STEM-based in this fun and educational camp where campers get to blow things up, shoot for the moon, and explore the world of Science while also singing and dancing! Culminates with a showcase!


Session Five: Original Musical! August 7 – 18, 2017

Also back by popular demand, campers will take on another original musical written by Carly Bishop and Michael Potsic, while learning Improv, Puppetry, Set Design, Dance, and more! Culminates with a premiere performance in the Baffes Theatre!


Session Six: The Rhythm is Gonna Get Ya! August 21- September 1, 2017

Campers immerse themselves in the world of music in this exciting session. Campers will summon their inner Beethoven in workshops such as Drumming, Piano, and Singing, while finding their inner pop star in workshops such as Hip Hop Dance and Body Percussion while starring in their own music videos!
